Announcing our appointment as Strategic Digital Partner with UNESCO Nottingham City of Literature

By Alex Traska on 28th Oct

It's been a busy few weeks here at Makermet, and a tough one sitting on the exciting news of our appointment as UNESCO Nottingham City of Literature's new strategic digital partner. We'll be responsible for overhauling their website to make it the go-to site for all things literature in Nottingham.

This is a fantastic development for Makermet and an amazing opportunity for our team to join in the proud celebration of the city's cultural heritage, and all the exciting things happening today in Nottingham's multicultural and rapidly growing creative community.

Nottingham became a UNESCO City of Literature in December 2015, one of only 20 cities around the world recognised by UNESCO for the sheer quality and quantity of literary excellence.

"Despite a strong field of contenders, Makermet’s innovative and imaginative approach to design and content marketing made them a perfect fit to take Nottingham City of Literature forward." - UNESCO Nottingham City of Literature

Sandeep Mahal, Director of Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature said: “At Nottingham City of Literature, we place great importance on keeping pace with digital developments. We set out to work with a digital partner who could support us to design a new website that will feel more alive with new content and better reflects the dynamism and stories of Nottingham City of Literature. Makermet stood out because of their deep understanding of the ever-changing communications landscape and their commitment to brand storytelling in a digital world. Our mission is to build a better world with words: they clearly demonstrated not only their impressive analysis and insight but also their engagement and commitment to this challenge.”

The Makermet team will initially focus on the development of a calendar based, touch attuned and responsive website, and to focus on all aspects of the digital journey, from traffic acquisition through to event submissions. We'll also be providing ongoing optimisation and conversion analysis to maximise greater sign-ups, event bookings, online giving and integration with social media. There will also be up-to- date information on campaigns and initiatives from Nottingham City of Literature and a vast archive of interviews and features, giving visitors a much clearer insight into how Nottingham City of Literature works.
